Children aged 4 - |
What is its purpose? |
To help young children take a full part in the Liturgy of the Word which is appropriate to their age, needs and stage of development |
When does it meet? |
Every Sunday at the 10.30am Family Mass the children process out of the church during the first hymn and return to their parents during the Offertory |
What do the childre |
They are helped to access the Liturgy of the Word as proclaimed to adults at a level
they can understand and engage with. The children listen to a children’s version
of the Gospel and then there are question & answer sessions followed by an activity,
such as drawing, colouring or role- |
What do the children achieve? |
There is a genuine sense of celebration and appreciation of the “Good News” in the time together and we aim to encourage a growth in faith and a healthy relationship between the liturgy and our daily living. |
By celebrating with each other the children are helped to participate more fully in the Eucharistic Celebration when they return to the church. |
We will be publishing the “Welcome the Word” worksheets on the website, so parents can download them for their children if they have not been able to attend the mass. If you wish to know more about the Children’s Liturgy, please contact the Parish office. | |
